The Person Behind
the Code

B.Sc. IT student, Mumbai University · Co-Founder of KisanX · Full-stack developer who'd rather ship something real than talk about shipping something real.

Hi, I'm Saniya.

I'm a second-year B.Sc. Information Technology student at Patkar-Varde College, Mumbai University, currently in Semester V with a first-year GPA of 8.73. Outside the classroom, I build full-stack web and mobile applications — the kind that go live, get used, and occasionally break in ways that teach me more than any lecture does.

I'm based in Virar, in the Mumbai Metropolitan Region, and most of what I know about software came from picking a problem, building something for it, and fixing whatever broke along the way. That's also how KisanX happened — the project I co-founded that's become the centre of my development journey so far.

How I got here

I didn't start with a framework or a bootcamp roadmap. I started with HTML and CSS, the same way a lot of self-taught developers do, and kept adding layers as soon as the previous one felt comfortable. JavaScript came next, then PHP and MySQL for backend logic, and eventually the MERN stack and React Native once I needed to think in terms of APIs, state management, and cross-platform mobile apps rather than just static pages.

Along the way I picked up five certifications from IIT Bombay's Spoken Tutorial and EduPyramids programmes — covering C++, PHP & MySQL, R programming, and HTML — plus a Python for Cyber Security course co-funded under the Erasmus+ programme. I also completed two Deloitte job simulations via Forage, one in technology and one in cybersecurity, which gave me a small taste of how engineering teams actually work day to day.

KisanX — the project that taught me the most

KisanX is a direct-to-consumer marketplace that connects Indian farmers with customers, cutting out the layers of middlemen that usually eat into a farmer's margins. I co-founded it, and it's gone through two real development phases: a PHP and MySQL web application first, then a full MERN-stack rebuild with a React Native mobile app, JWT authentication, OTP verification, and a Render-hosted backend.

We presented KisanX at the Avishkar Inter-Collegiate Research Convention, organised by the University of Mumbai, where it was selected for the Agriculture & Animal Husbandry category at the undergraduate level. Standing in front of academic evaluators and explaining architecture decisions — why we moved from sessions to JWT, why MongoDB made sense for the mobile rebuild — was a different kind of pressure than debugging alone at 1am, and it sharpened how I talk about my own work.

You can read the full breakdown, including the tech stack for each phase and the reasoning behind it, on the dedicated KisanX project page.

What I actually work with

Day to day, my stack looks like this: React.js and React Native (with Expo) on the frontend, Node.js and Express.js for REST APIs, PHP for projects that call for it, and MongoDB or MySQL depending on whether the data is document-shaped or relational. I handle authentication with JWT and OTP verification, and I'm comfortable with Git/GitHub, Postman for API testing, and deploying backends on Render.

I've also started building a foundation in cybersecurity — partly out of genuine interest, partly because I think every developer should understand how the things they build can be attacked. That's shown up in practice as secure session handling, password hashing, and just generally being paranoid about input validation.

Outside the IDE

I'm a member of the Tech Titans Club at Patkar-Varde College, where I've taken part in hackathons, seminars, and the general chaos of student tech events. I speak English, Hindi, and Marathi, and I was awarded Best Personality in 12th grade — which, admittedly, has nothing to do with code, but I'm still a little proud of it.

Right now I'm looking for an internship or entry-level role where I can apply real full-stack and cybersecurity skills inside an actual engineering team. If that sounds like something you're hiring for, my contact page has every way to reach me, and my resume has the full timeline.
